Fatal stabbing death of Olivia Courtney Cook

Investigators confirmed the tragic deaths of Olivia Courtney Cook and another individual following a welfare check at their residence on Flick Avenue. The intervention was reportedly initiated after a neighbor encountered the 14-year-old son, Courtney Cook. State police were dispatched after Courtney allegedly approached the neighbor and reported that someone had killed his father and mother, described as a family friend.

Upon arrival, authorities noted Courtney had visible injuries on his hands and was observed with blood on his clothing. Both victims were found suffering from severe blood loss resulting from stab wounds in the living room area. The official statement indicated that both Olivia Courtney Cook and the family friend sustained multiple stab wounds to their heads and upper bodies. During questioning, the neighbor mentioned feeling accused, stating, “they’re going to think I did it,” after their initial interaction with Courtney.

Courtney later told law enforcement he had taken a shower before discovering the bodies, exclaiming, “I just can’t believe this happened!” His confession reportedly came shortly after, during which he allegedly admitted to the killings and stated, “I killed my parents,” referencing a message he allegedly sent to a friend via Snapchat. Following the shower, he reportedly showed the friend a video of himself finding the bodies.

State police investigated the case further and learned Courtney possessed a serrated knife, a paring knife, and a butcher knife at the scene. Officials noted the presence of three bloody knives in a nearby garbage can, along with indications of a struggle within the home. County District Attorney Greg Neugebauer announced charges against Courtney as an adult, effective immediately. He is currently being held at the Cambria County Prison under specific security measures.

The victim Olivia Courtney Cook was the mother of the accused, aged 14. The other deceased was identified as the family friend. Records indicate the accused recently relocated from Texas to the area, approximately two years prior to the incident. Law enforcement is continuing its investigation, including contacting Courtney’s educational institution, Cambria Heights School District, and seeking additional information about the family from authorities in Texas. Court proceedings for an arraignment had already commenced, with a preliminary hearing scheduled for October 16.
