The incident began Tuesday morning when a school bus collided with a pickup truck near 175th Avenue NW and Roanoke Street NW, resulting in a heartbreaking loss. According to an official statement from the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office released on September 30, the bus was transporting five students from Anoka High School. The pickup truck, which was towing a trailer, veered into the other lane and crashed head-on into the bus.

On Wednesday, As the investigation continues, officials from the Anoka-Hennepin School District confirmed that Dustin Cole King, a 43-year-old resident of Andover, was the individual who lost his life. Despite emergency medical personnel’s best efforts to save King, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

In addition to King’s passing, the bus driver and one of the students suffered injuries that required hospitalization, though they were not life-threatening. The remaining students were allowed to return home with their parents after being assessed at the accident site. The district spokesperson, Jim Skelly, explained that counselors immediately reached out to the students involved in the crash and offered support to anyone else who might have been affected by the news.

This tragic event is currently being examined by multiple authorities, including the Minnesota State Patrol, the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office, and the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office. They are working together to determine the full circumstances surrounding the accident.
