Fatal Speegleville car crash death of Alexus McCormick
Investigators with the Texas Department of Public Safety reported that law enforcement responded to a multi-vehicle collision on Speegleville Road shortly before midday Tuesday. The accident occurred at the junction of Speegleville Road and McLennan Crossing Road, according to official records from the DPS.
Detailed examination of the scene revealed that a dump truck proceeding south on Speegleville Road collided with a Chevrolet Malibu. The investigation determined that the Malibu driver, identified as 20-year-old Alexus McCormick from Waco, failed to properly enter the intersection after the dump truck had the right of way.
Medical personnel transported Alexus McCormick to a nearby medical center where she was confirmed deceased. The operator of the dump truck was also taken to a medical facility for treatment.
Local emergency services, including the Speegleville Volunteer Fire Department, were dispatched to the scene. Fire crews managed emergency operations at the intersection of Speegleville Road and McLennan Crossing Road. Traffic adjustments were implemented, with drivers advised to use Paloma Drive for a temporary rerouting around the incident area.
