Local officials in Rockford, Illinois, confirm the death of a man following a fatal workplace accident. The Winnebago County Coroner’s Office has identified the deceased as Horacio Prada Dominguez, who was 38 years old. Mr. Dominguez was employed at the business location when the incident occurred.
Investigation reveals that Mr. Dominguez was assisting another coworker in maneuvering a substantial piece of quartz weighing approximately 800 pounds. Tragically, the stone began shifting unexpectedly and moved towards him. He attempted to stabilize the slab but found himself trapped between this initial slab and another immovable surface.
Despite emergency responders’ efforts to free Mr. Dominguez, they were unable to save him. Medical examination conducted by the coroner’s office concluded that the official cause of death was catastrophic blunt force trauma to the head, resulting from the immense pressure applied by the heavy stone slabs.
