A serious traffic collision occurred near the intersection of Route 20 and McGuire School Road in Duanesburg on Thursday morning. Emergency services responded to the scene shortly after 11:40 a.m., reporting that a BMW vehicle, which was proceeding southbound, failed to stop completely during a left-hand turn onto Route 20. This maneuver resulted in a collision with a Dodge Caravan being operated by Barbara A. Bryant, a 63-year-old resident of Schenevus.
Ms. Bryant was transported to Ellis Hospital following the incident. Medical professionals confirmed her death at the facility. The other occupant of the Dodge Caravan was airlifted to Albany Medical Center for further care.
The driver of the BMW, identified as a 17-year-old, and a 16-year-old passenger also sustained injuries. According to law enforcement, one of the young passengers suffered an eye injury that may lead to permanent vision loss. Both were treated at Albany Medical Center. The authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash to determine if any laws were violated.
