Nevada State Police officials have stated that a 62-year-old individual, identified as Susan Mae Goodenow, lost their life in a collision involving multiple cyclists and a motor vehicle. The incident took place on the morning of October 4th.

Preliminary information gathered by law enforcement indicates the accident began at approximately 9:02 a.m. near the area of mile marker 11 on U.S. 395 Alternate, close to Pagni Lane.

According to investigators, the driver of a 1995 Subaru Legacy vehicle was traveling northbound on U.S. 395 Alternate when they lost control of their lane. The driver crossed over into the southbound lanes and the designated path for cyclists.

Further examination of the incident suggests the driver attempted to regain control by steering to the right. This action caused the car to spin in a clockwise direction, resulting in a collision with the cyclists.

One of the cyclists involved in the accident was thrown from their bicycle during the impact. The Subaru vehicle continued moving northward after the crash, briefly crossing back into the northbound lanes before finally stopping.

Medical professionals confirmed the death of Susan Mae Goodenow at the scene. The other cyclist involved suffered injuries that were not considered life-threatening and was transported to a hospital for treatment.

The driver remained present at the accident location.

The Nevada Highway Patrol’s Major Incident Reconstruction Team from the Northern Command is conducting a thorough investigation to determine the full circumstances surrounding this tragic event.
