The Clearwater County Sheriff’s Office reported that a Kootenai County deputy was located deceased at the site of an off-road vehicle mishap close to Elk River. The incident was discovered at approximately 1:41 a.m. on the tenth of October. Authorities initiated a search covering the Elk River region down to the Dworshak Reservoir.
This search operation utilized multiple pickups, several UTVs, a drone, and the assistance of a helicopter. Furthermore, the team interviewed various campers who were hunters in the vicinity. Some of these campers offered aid in the search once they were contacted.
The missing off-road vehicle was located by these hunters while they were participating in the search. The vehicle was found to have overturned along an old logging road. According to the sheriff’s office, the driver had been ejected from the vehicle during the incident.
Dale Law, who was 43 years old and from Hayden, was identified as the driver. He served as a deputy within the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office.
