Fatal Westlake shooting death of Lawanna J. Lewis
Law enforcement officials revealed that a Texas resident has been apprehended following the fatal shooting in Westlake. This development was announced by Calcasieu Parish Sheriff Gary “Stitch” Guillory.
The fatal incident occurred on Friday, originating from a Phillips 66 logistics center. A transportation operator reported discovering a severely injured individual in a nearby drainage ditch. Multiple gunshot wounds were observed on the victim.
Following an anonymous tip, authorities successfully identified the deceased woman. Sheriff Guillory confirmed during a Saturday press briefing that the individual was 62-year-old Lawanna J. Lewis. Further investigation revealed she operated as a Lyft transportation provider.
The vehicle used by Lewis remains missing. Law enforcement activated an alert for the car and later determined it had been unlawfully taken. According to an official news statement, the stolen vehicle was spotted in a Houston parking area. When law enforcement attempted communication with the occupants, they attempted to flee.
During the pursuit, a young male, identified as 23-year-old Ethan Bush from Lafayette, was involved in a separate traffic incident. He received fatal injuries and was confirmed deceased.
A second male, 26-year-old Tristan Bush from Lafayette, was captured by authorities in Houston. He is currently facing serious criminal charges. The Harris County Sheriff’s Office set his financial obligation at two and a half million units.
Sheriff Guillory indicated additional charges against this individual are under consideration. He described the incident as exploitation of a work situation, referencing the victim’s occupation.
The lead investigator believes both individuals were responsible for the fatal act and subsequent vehicle theft. The timeline remains under review, according to official sources. Financial institutions may soon provide further clarification.
