Fatal Maloney shooting death of Kurleigh Simon
Law enforcement officials reported a tragic incident in the Maloney region late on Friday. The attack resulted in the death of a 42-year-old man and left his companion injured.
Around 8:00 p.m., officers were dispatched to a car park near Building 8. Police stated that the couple was observed in that vicinity when the violence erupted. Multiple gunshots were discharged during the incident.
The deceased individual, identified by authorities as Kurleigh Simon from Train Line, Pinto Road, Arima, sustained serious injuries. He was reported to have been struck several times in the chest, abdomen, and hand areas by the gunfire. Simon was discovered lifeless near the pathway connecting the car park, as per the responding officers’ account.
His common-law companion, also identified by police, is a 38-year-old female. She resides in North Maloney. This woman suffered a minor gunshot wound to her left calf. She received immediate medical attention at Arima Hospital. Fortunately, their 12-year-old son, who was reportedly present, was not injured.
Investigators cited the Special Evidence Recovery Unit (SERU) for processing the crime scene located near the car park pathway. Tragically, Simon did not survive his injuries and passed away at the scene.
