Montgomery County law enforcement identified the individual charged with connection to the Silver Spring homicide investigation involving Monique Charles. Charges have been formally filed against this suspect.
Initial reports from October 12, 2025, indicated that Montgomery County Police, 3rd District units were dispatched following a reported incident involving gunfire. Their location was the Imperial Drive area in Silver Spring.
Upon their arrival, officers found Monique Charles, who was 47 years old and from Brooklyn, New York, suffering from serious injuries apparently caused by bullets. Medical personnel confirmed her death at the scene.
According to investigation details, Ms. Charles was in the process of leaving the location on Imperial Drive when her former male companion approached and opened fire, shooting her several times. A witness observed the shooting and recognized the suspect as Earl Walker, who is also 47 years old. The witness also noted the description of the vehicle Walker was driving during his departure.
Following the shooting, officers went to investigate Earl Walker’s place of residence in the Derwood area. Upon observation, they noticed Walker driving away. Attempts were made to stop him, but Walker continued. A pursuit ensued, resulting in Walker losing control of his vehicle. He crashed and his car rolled over on nearby Route 108 and Rocky Road. Walker sustained minor injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital. Law enforcement recovered a firearm from his vehicle after the crash.
Earl Walker was arrested, and an official warrant was secured. He faces serious accusations including first-degree murder alongside other related charges.
