Law enforcement officials in Baton Rouge have apprehended a person of interest in the fatal shooting incident that resulted in the death of a 29-year-old man located outside a barbershop along Platt Drive. Further details on the case are expected to be released as the investigation continues.

Baton Rouge police reported that the fatal shooting incident transpired at approximately 5:49 p.m. on Wednesday, October 15, in the 9700 block of Platt Drive. Responding officers discovered Marvin Tolliver, who was 29 years old, suffering from a gunshot wound, and pronounced him deceased at the scene.

According to the ongoing investigation, the fatal shooting was the result of an altercation that began inside a barbershop. It is alleged that an argument occurred between a customer and an employee at the establishment. Following this initial dispute, authorities identified Sylvester Bouligny III as a key suspect in connection with the incident. It is reported that Bouligny left the premises and returned with two other individuals, who subsequently confronted the barbershop employee.

This confrontation escalated, leading to a physical altercation. During the ensuing struggle, it is alleged that the two men who accompanied Bouligny began firing shots. These shots resulted in the death of Marvin Tolliver, who was not directly involved in the fight.

Sylvester Bouligny III was taken into custody on Thursday, October 16, and officially processed into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison system. He faces serious charges including Principal to Second Degree Murder and the unlawful possession and use of a weapon during the incident.
