Fatal Berkeley County car crash death of Milly Asencio.
The Berkeley County Coroner officially named the pedestrian who died in Friday morning’s fatal accident as Milly Asencio, a 25-year-old from Summerville. The fatal collision on Jedburg Road left her without any chance of survival, as per the official identification.
Emergency responders from Pine Ridge Fire Rescue arrived swiftly at the scene, with initial reports coming in around 3 a.m. State troopers later confirmed that the crash occurred at approximately 2:40 a.m. in the specific area near Hardwood and My Lanes, about three miles west of Summerville.
Investigators revealed that a 2018 Jeep Wrangler was moving westbound on Jedburg Road when it collided with a pedestrian, later identified as Asencio, who was walking eastbound but on the wrong side of the road. This unfortunate intersection caused the vehicle to hit her, leading to her quick death at the location.
The sole driver of the Jeep Wrangler was uninjured and left the vehicle, but the pedestrian’s injuries proved fatal. Crews secured the crash site, and the nearby roadway remained closed for roughly two hours to handle the aftermath, after which it was reopened to traffic.
