Fatal Winston-Salem shooting death of Stephen Eric Hicks
Law enforcement sources from Davidson County, North Carolina, announced that a man affiliated with Davidson County has been formally accused on two counts of first-degree homicide. According to reports, this individual is alleged to have caused the deaths of two of his relatives earlier in the day.
Officials with the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office disclosed that officers were alerted to the scene at 360 Raye Drive in Winston-Salem on Friday morning to perform a welfare investigation.
Doubts emerged after the alleged perpetrator, identified as the 78-year-old Stephen Curtis Hicks, transmitted a message to a family member indicating that he had injured two other family individuals.
Upon reaching the site, the deputies encountered the lifeless bodies of Stephen Eric Hicks, who was 45 years old, and June Hicks, aged 76. The law officers also located Stephen Curtis Hicks himself, who had suffered slight wounds. He was then taken into custody and transported to the Davidson County Detention Center.
The suspect is expected to face a judicial review on October 20.
