Fatal Eagle Pass car crash death of Eduardo Guevara Ceballos
Emergency services rushed to the scene after being dispatched shortly before midnight on Thursday. The location of the serious single-vehicle collision was along State Highway 151, approximately eighteen miles north of Eagle Pass in Maverick County.
A preliminary report by Texas Highway Patrol staff indicates a gray 2007 Honda Pilot, traveling southbound on SH 131, experienced a loss of control. According to investigators, the vehicle swerved off the road into a drainage ditch before attempting to recover, which led to it crossing back into the opposite lane and rolling multiple times.
Mr. Guevara Ceballos, who was identified as being 38 years old and from Iowa, was thrown from the vehicle during the violent overturn. Medical examiners pronounced the driver deceased at the scene. A passenger inside the vehicle was taken to University Hospital in San Antonio.
Law enforcement officials with the DPS are continuing their probe into the causes of this fatal traffic incident.
