Fatal Rembert shooting death of Rodney China

Law enforcement officials confirmed Sunday that a 51-year-old named Rodney China from the Rembert region passed away as a result of a shooting incident. According to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.

Identified as the person who lost their life was Rodney China, a resident of Rembert who was 51 years old. This information was released by the sheriff’s office in their official statement.

The details provided indicate that China was engaged in a disagreement with a person known to him, identified as Quinshaun Dais, a 38-year-old also from Rembert. Tragically, this altercation resulted in China’s death.

At approximately 3:45 p.m. on Saturday, law enforcement personnel were dispatched to an address located at 205 Louis Circle in Rembert following a report involving a firearm discharge. Their arrival at the scene revealed the body of China.

Investigators were told by observers that the confrontation between China and Dais began as a simple disagreement but quickly turned physical. The underlying reason for their argument remains unknown at this time.

The official report from the sheriff’s office states that Dais is being accused of pulling a weapon and firing multiple shots during the physical encounter. These actions reportedly led to the death of China.

No other individuals sustained injuries as a result of the incident.

Dais was apprehended at the location where the shooting occurred and formally accused of murder and possessing a weapon during a violent act. He was transported to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center for temporary custody pending a court appearance.

Legal documents from Sumter County indicate that Dais is set to face a bond hearing, with a future court date scheduled for December 12th.

Despite the arrest of Dais, the ongoing investigation into the shooting continues. Both the sheriff’s office and the county coroner are examining the incident. An autopsy is planned for Monday at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, as confirmed by Coroner Robbie Baker.

Sumter County Sheriff Anthony Dennis expressed his views in the official release, describing the situation as “totally avoidable and unnecessary.” He emphasized that the disagreement could have been handled peacefully, adding that people “must learn to communicate and never resort to gun violence.”
