Fatal Atlanta shooting death of Damari Jordan

According to the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office, the young man was identified as Damari Jordan on Monday. The Georgia State Patrol (GSP) reported that the fatal events began when a sedan made contact with the rear of a truck. Following this initial collision, the sedan’s driver, Jordan, exited the vehicle and approached the truck, leading to an exchange of gunfire between the two drivers. Tragically, Jordan was struck by an oncoming vehicle after he fell onto the interstate, and he also collided with an Atlanta Police Department (APD) patrol car.

The exact cause of death remains uncertain, as officials are unsure whether it was the shooting, the subsequent car crashes, or a combination of factors. The APD confirmed that officers discovered Jordan’s body on I-75 North shortly after 10 p.m. on Saturday. Medical personnel pronounced him deceased at the scene, and the Homicide Unit is investigating the incident, with an autopsy pending.

The GSP stated that both the road rage incident and the initial shooting are under the APD’s investigation, while they are also examining the later crashes involving the hit-and-run vehicle and the police car.
