The fatal accident on I-40 in Forsyth County took place on October 12 at 7:05 p.m.Officials from the North Carolina State Highway Patrol confirmed that a 2021 Honda Accord veered off the right side of the road at high speed before striking a bridge support near Cole Road.

Following the impact, the Honda Accord subsequently caught fire, and all individuals inside the vehicle tragically died at the scene.

The identified driver of the 2021 Honda Accord was 23-year-old Davian Jacob Silvestri from Goldsboro, North Carolina.

The other three passengers were Elijah Brown, who was 18 and from Virginia, Deandre Dwayne Wimley, also 18 and from Virginia, and Marcus Phifer, who was 21 and from Virginia.

Preliminary findings from the troopers point to excessive speed as a key factor contributing to the collision. During the ongoing investigation, authorities had to close the affected section of the roadway for over six hours.
