Fatal Lafayette Parish plane crash involving three Houston-area victims

Loved ones are in deep mourning after three Houston-area residents lost their lives in a Louisiana plane crash on Tuesday.

Investigators discovered a twin-engine Beechcraft Baron airplane had crashed, and all three people on board were confirmed deceased following the incident near Lafayette Parish.

The authorities reported three people from the Houston area were killed when their small plane crashed shortly after taking off from Hooks Memorial Airport in Spring, TX.

The aircraft reportedly departed from Hooks Memorial Airport just before 10 a.m. on Tuesday. Approximately one hour later, the plane crashed in a field in Lafayette Parish, Louisiana.

Deputies from the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the scene around 11 a.m.

The initial emergency call described a small aircraft that had lost altitude, circled, and crashed into a field.

The three Houston-area victims identified as Bruce Verduyn, 58, Justin Ramsey, 42, both from The Woodlands, and Lydia Laws, 46, from Spring.

Family, friends, and neighbors are grieving the loss of three cherished members of the Houston-area community.

Lydia Laws, 46, of Spring, Texas, was among those who perished. Friends characterize her as a wonderful wife and mother.

Justin Ramsey, 42, from The Woodlands, also lost his life in the crash. His cousin shared with FOX 26 that Justin was very involved in his community and was a loving husband and father.

Bruce Verduyn, 58, also from The Woodlands, was the third victim. Neighbors expressed shock upon hearing the news of his death.

The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the crash. The cause of the accident has not been determined at this time.
