An individual identified as Anthony Mingo is reported deceased following a high-speed chase incident. Authorities initiated the pursuit in Knightdale after deputies from the Wake County Sheriff’s Office attempted to stop a vehicle connected to a reported bank robbery.
The vehicle, driven by Mingo, proceeded onto Interstate 87. Law enforcement noted the driver dangerously approached other traffic and operated partially on the roadside. The pursuit continued after the driver exited the highway, navigating through urban areas before colliding with another vehicle at a street intersection.
Following the collision, Mingo reportedly entered a nearby eatery. Deputies cited that he subsequently inflicted a self-inflicted wound with a firearm inside the establishment. Wake County officials confirmed Mingo is in a critical condition.
