Fatal Richmond car crash death of James Boggs, Jr.
Richmond police officers responded to a traffic collision on West Broad Street at 3:28 p.m. on Thursday, October 23, after receiving reports of the incident.
Upon their arrival, responders discovered an unconscious individual lying on the ground. This person was identified as James Boggs, Jr., a 46-year-old resident of Richmond. He was transported to a nearby medical facility but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.
An investigation by the Richmond Police Department’s Crash Team concluded that a dark-colored sedan was involved. This vehicle was traveling south on Bowe Street and attempted a right turn onto West Broad Street. The sedan collided with James Boggs, who was operating a bicycle crossing Bowe Street while moving eastbound on Broad Street.
At the time of this report, the driver of the sedan has been charged with failure to stop for a pedestrian at a marked crosswalk.
