The El Paso County Coroner’s Office has officially confirmed the identity of the motorcyclist involved in a fatal accident that took place on October 2nd.
Initial reports from the Colorado Springs Police Department indicated that officers responded to Maizeland Road in the 4000 Block at 4:40 p.m. following the incident. According to the investigation, a single motorcycle was heading east on Maizeland Road when the rider lost control and crashed.
Medical responders arrived at the scene promptly and administered life-saving efforts, but the injuries sustained by the motorcyclist were ultimately fatal.
The Coroner’s Office identified the deceased as Megumi Morris, a 26-year-old individual.
The CSPD Major Crash Team is currently conducting a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident. Preliminary findings suggest that neither excessive speed nor impairment was a contributing factor.
As reported by the Colorado Springs Police Department, this incident represents the 45th traffic-related fatality in the city this year. For the same time period last year, there were 40 recorded traffic deaths, while the total traffic fatalities in Colorado Springs over the past 365 days amount to 54.
