Fatal Lexington hit-and-run crash death of Jose Luis Hernandez Sosa
Lexington authorities report a pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle in a hit-and-run incident in the early evening hours.
The collision occurred shortly after 11:00 p.m. on Georgetown Street at the Price Road intersection, close to the Douglass Park area.
Upon arrival, responding officers found the pedestrian, later identified by Fayette County Coroner officials as a man, and provided immediate life-saving measures including CPR. Tragically, the individual did not survive their injuries and passed away at the scene.
The coroner’s office officially identified the deceased as 59-year-old Jose Luis Hernandez Sosa, a resident of Lexington.
Investigators from the Lexington Police Department are seeking the vehicle and its operator. The specific type of car involved in the incident has not been located, and no suspect has come forward or been identified.
The Police Department has initiated a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash. To facilitate this process, they will be closing the affected roadway until approximately 3:00 a.m., allowing their Collision Reconstruction Unit to examine the scene and piece together what happened.
