Early Sunday morning authorities were alerted to a violent incident in a residence located in the Cordova area. According to reports received by the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office around 3 a.m., a shooting occurred on a residential street near Jessica Lauren Drive. Deputies arrived at the scene and found a single female inside the dwelling. Emergency medical personnel confirmed the woman was deceased, the result of a gunshot wound.
The deceased individual has been identified as Yesica Juarez, a 32-year-old female. Preliminary investigation findings indicate the incident may have involved domestic issues. A suspect, Marcus Dotson, a 33-year-old male, is currently being sought by law enforcement. Dotson faces multiple charges including murder, felony weapon use, and unlawful possession of a weapon by a convicted felon.
A warrant was obtained for Dotson’s apprehension later that day. The specific connection between Dotson and Juarez remains unclear to investigators. The ongoing probe continues to gather evidence at the scene and interview potential witnesses.
