Eric Williams, identified as the pastor killed Monday near Pacific Coast Highway, is now known to be a father of four. The 45-year-old man, whose ministry was the Community Church of West Garden Grove, was left bereft by his passing, with a wife and children also mourning his loss.
According to community fundraising efforts for his family, Williams was held in high regard by his peers. The Huntington Beach Firefighters Union also paid tribute, noting his connection as a relative to their Marine Safety Captain.
This tragic event resulted in the death of one cyclist and left two others injured. The motorist involved in the collision has since been apprehended. Amber Calderon, a 43-year-old from Long Beach, was stopped shortly after the incident and charged with multiple offenses related to the accident.
The charges against Ms. Calderon include one felony count of hit-and-run leading to permanent harm or fatality, alongside two counts of hit-and-run with injury. The Orange County District Attorney’s Office reported that these charges carry a potential maximum penalty of five years and four months imprisonment.
