Thor Nilsson dies in fatal Palmer car crash
Fatal Palmer car crash death of Thor Nilsson
Alaska State Police confirmed the death of a 19-year-old male Tuesday morning following a major traffic incident. According to an official statement released Tuesday, troopers were dispatched shortly before 3 a.m. to a single-vehicle accident occurring near the 38-mile marker on the Glenn Highway, south of Palmer. Law enforcement personnel discovered a Ford F-250 pickup truck driven by the deceased, Thor Nilsson, which had overturned significantly and was located inverted in the highway’s center divider, exhibiting considerable structural damage.
Thor Nilsson was the only individual occupying the vehicle at the time of the collision and did not survive the injuries sustained. This unfortunate incident marks the second fatality in Southcentral Alaska within less than a week. On Monday, Anchorage police identified another victim, an 84-year-old man named John Lund, who died from injuries suffered in a separate collision on October 20th near the intersection of 88th Avenue and Old Seward Highway. Police reports indicate Lund was driving a 2023 GMC pickup truck at the time of that accident and passed away while receiving treatment at a hospital.
