On Tuesday, authorities identified the young person who died following a high-speed collision between a Ford Mustang and a power pole. The incident occurred on Harbor Boulevard near 22nd Street in San Pedro.
According to the Los Angeles police department, the vehicle, a Ford Mustang, was traveling northbound on Saturday evening at approximately 11 p.m. when it lost control and collided with the utility pole. Emergency medical services arrived at the scene and pronounced the passenger deceased immediately.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner confirmed the identity of the deceased on Tuesday, identifying him as a seventeen-year-old male named Liam May.
Separately, the driver, also a teenager, sustained only minor injuries. He was taken into custody by law enforcement and released on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter charges related to the fatal accident.
