Fatal Kahekili Highway car crash death of Angela Shiroma
Hawaii news reports identified the deceased woman, an elderly individual, who passed away following a pedestrian collision on Tuesday. According to law enforcement, Angela Shiroma, who was 71 years old, was crossing the road away from a designated crossing area when she was struck by a vehicle driven by a 69-year-old female operator.
The collision took place approximately at 6:00 p.m., close to the intersection with Haiku Road. Medical professionals at the scene confirmed Shiroma’s death. The driver involved remained at the location and sustained no injuries according to the investigation.
Officials implemented a temporary roadblock on Kahekili Highway, halting vehicular movement completely in both directions between Haiku Road and Hui Iwa Street to facilitate the ongoing inquiry and manage the accident site.
The preliminary assessment from investigators concluded that neither excessive speed nor the influence of drugs or alcohol played a role in causing the incident.
This particular fatality contributes to the total count of traffic-related deaths recorded on Oahu during the year 2025, bringing the tally to seventy-two as of the current date, a stark contrast to the thirty-eight fatalities reported during the identical period in the preceding year.
