Fatal La Verkin paraglider crash death of Miles Mitchell
Miles Mitchell passed away in a paragliding incident at Confluence Park on Thursday, as confirmed by city officials on Saturday.
At around 5:46 p.m. on Thursday, Mitchell was moving westward through the canyon beyond the La Verkin Bridge within the park when his paraglider collided with power lines crossing the canyon. Mitchell’s parachute collapsed upon impact, resulting in the paraglider falling to the canyon floor, according to a statement from La Verkin city officials.
Emergency personnel arrived promptly and provided life-saving efforts, but Mitchell was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Officials have stated they have not released additional information regarding Mitchell’s background or the cause of the accident. They mentioned that all available evidence indicates the event was a “tragic accident.”
