Phoenix law enforcement responded to a collision scene near the intersection of 7th Avenue and Thomas Road shortly after 4:30 a.m. Sunday morning. Upon arrival, responders encountered a complex multi-vehicle accident involving three automobiles.
Fire department personnel from Phoenix were dispatched and worked to free individuals trapped inside one of the vehicles that had overturned. Tragically, a female person was confirmed deceased at the location.
Phoenix authorities released the identity of the deceased later that day, confirming she was a 21-year-old resident named Trinity Brewer. Three other individuals sustained medical issues but were not in immediate danger.
According to information gathered by investigators, a male driver was observed traveling westbound on Thomas Road at a high speed. This individual disregarded a traffic signal and collided with Brewer’s vehicle, which was proceeding northbound on a green light. The force from this initial impact resulted in a chain reaction involving a third vehicle traveling southbound on 7th Avenue.
The driver involved in the first collision was transported to a medical facility with severe health problems. Police have indicated that preliminary observations suggest this person may have been affected by substances that influence coordination.
Further legal actions are currently under consideration pending the completion of the ongoing probe into the incident.
