According to reports from the Darke County Sheriff’s Office, a 33-year-old man identified as Marcus Bingham has died following a collision involving a semi-trailer truck on Monday morning. The incident occurred early in the morning hours.
The Darke County Sheriff’s Office reported the crash happened around 4:49 a.m. near the intersection of U.S. Route 127 and Grubbs-Rex Road, specifically in the 1600 block of the roadway. Law enforcement investigated the scene after receiving notification.
Initial information indicates Marcus Bingham, who resided in New Madison, was driving a Ford Fusion along U.S. 127 in a southbound direction when the vehicle crossed over the center line and collided head-on with an oncoming semi-trailer truck. Emergency medical services responded to the scene and provided emergency care.
Despite the medical intervention by first responders, Marcus Bingham was pronounced deceased at the location. The official cause of death has not yet been released by authorities.
The Darke County Sheriff’s Office has not publicly stated whether the 61-year-old operator of the semi-trailer truck sustained injuries during the accident. The investigation into the causes of the incident is currently ongoing by the Sheriff’s Office.
