The incident occurred approximately at 10:40 p.m. on Saturday, involving Ocee Street adjacent to Pagewood Lane. The child’s family confirmed his identity.
Houston Police Division reported that a red Toyota pickup truck driver collided with the child and then departed the scene. Law enforcement personnel are currently searching for the individual behind the wheel.
Mohammad Yahya Hasanzai’s family expressed profound grief over the tragic loss of the young boy. The boy’s father, Ifirfanullah Hasanzai, conveyed that he witnessed his son’s death in his arms.
According to the boy’s mother, she was in the process of walking home from visiting friends across the street when the accident transpired. She stated she was crossing the road with her five-year-old daughter and three-year-old son, Mohammad. Tragically, she believes her son let go of her hand and was subsequently hit by the vehicle.
The mother suggested that she perceived the vehicle as a black SUV, whereas police investigations indicate the suspect’s truck was red. The authorities have specified the truck in question was a red Toyota pickup.
It has been reported that this intersection has experienced a previous crash incident.
