Fatal Woonsocket shooting death of Kimberly Pieranunzi and Donald Roderick Jr.

A 24-year-old man, Sean Rivera, reacted to relationship difficulties by committing a shooting in Woonsocket. The incident occurred within a domestic setting, stemming from personal conflicts between Rivera and his romantic partner. Woonsocket police confirmed that Rivera was the individual responsible for the gunfire.

According to Woonsocket police, the deceased included Kimberly Pieranunzi, 40, and Donald Roderick Jr., 45. These individuals were identified by Woonsocket Deputy Police Chief Adam Remick through official statements provided to the public.

The living arrangements involved multiple residents sharing a residence at 411 Rathbun Street. This included Kimberly Pieranunzi, her partner Donald Roderick Jr., their 19-year-old daughter, and Sean Rivera, who was involved romantically with Pieranunzi. The young woman managed to escape the building, seeking assistance from nearby authorities.

Emergency services arrived at Rathbun Street around 6:45 p.m. and discovered three individuals with injuries resulting from gunfire. One person was immediately pronounced deceased at the scene. The other two injured were transported to a medical facility, where they later succumbed to their wounds.

Investigation findings indicated the sequence began when Rivera confronted his girlfriend, focusing on issues within their relationship. During this confrontation, Rivera sought sexual relations, which led to an assault on the 19-year-old daughter. Following this incident, the daughter sought refuge in her mother’s bedroom. Tragically, Rivera tracked her down and targeted Pieranunzi. When Donald Roderick Jr. entered the premises from his workplace, Rivera subsequently targeted him before ultimately turning the weapon on himself.

A firearm, specifically a .380-caliber weapon, was recovered during the investigation. This weapon was determined to be stolen property, previously reported missing in the state of Maine. The authorities emphasized that the incident was contained within the residential complex and posed no risk to the broader community.
