Deunte Myers, a 28-year-old male from Augusta, died as a result of being shot.
Emergency services were dispatched shortly after 7:35 a.m. on Tuesday to Deen Avenue concerning a shooting incident. Upon their arrival, responders found the injured individual, later identified as Myers, who had suffered what appeared to be a gunshot wound. Medical personnel transported Myers to a regional hospital, but he was pronounced deceased upon reaching the facility.
The Richmond County Coroner confirmed Deunte Myers as the deceased victim. Authorities have named the suspect, Tyrese Artavious Wesby, a 21-year-old from Augusta. Wesby was arrested later on the same Tuesday afternoon.
