Officials announced today the identity of a Hale County woman killed in a collision involving a municipal vehicle. The Alabama State Troopers officially identified the deceased as Janae L. Neese, whose age is listed as 26.

The accident transpired at 7:40 a.m. on Friday, taking place on Alabama 14 approximately ten miles east of the community of Eutaw.

Trooper Sergeant Reginal King confirmed that Neese was operating a Hyundai Elantra at the time of the incident. According to reports, the vehicle collided with the rear of a Freightliner M2 refuse collection truck, piloted by Demondre L. Pernell, who is 31 years old and resides in Greensboro.

Following the collision, King stated that the Elantra vehicle subsequently experienced a fire.

First responders pronounced Neese deceased at the scene.

Tragically, the occupants of the Elantra included two minors. A five-year-old child and an eleven-year-old were injured during the crash. They were transported by helicopter emergency services to a regional medical center for necessary treatment.

The Alabama State Troopers have indicated that their ongoing investigation into this incident aims to determine all relevant circumstances surrounding the collision and its immediate aftermath.
