According to reports received by Kansas City, Kansas police around 4:30 a.m. on Saturday, officers were dispatched to the 700 block of North 11th Street. Upon their arrival, emergency responders found Ana Juarez outside a nearby building, suffering from a gunshot wound. Juarez was then transported to a local hospital, but unfortunately, her condition deteriorated, leading to her death as a result of those injuries. Officer T.J. Tomasic from the Kansas City, Kansas Police Department previously announced the initial identification of the victim and mentioned that a person of interest had been taken into custody. Nancy Chartrand, the public information officer for the Kansas City, Kansas Police Department, later confirmed Juarez’s death. It was reported on Monday that the suspect’s name has not been released by authorities, and the motive or circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting remain under investigation. Juarez’s death is reported to be the 19th homicide in Kansas City, Kansas during the year 2025, reflecting a decrease compared to the 21 homicides recorded at the same period in the previous year, as tracked by The Star, which includes statistics related to fatal police shootings.
