Jillian Collins was expected home on Halloween evening to celebrate the holiday with her two young children by participating in trick-or-treating. However, she had been staying temporarily in Concord and failed to return to their home in Barnstead that night, causing concern among family members.
When her husband, Kevin Collins, attempted to reach Jillian by phone, all calls immediately resulted in a voicemail message. After several attempts, the phone completely stopped responding, leading Kevin to speculate that her device might have simply run out of power.
The following day, Kevin received an unfamiliar phone call and decided to answer it. On the other end was the Concord Police Department, who informed him of their tragic discovery. Kevin expressed disbelief, suggesting the news was mistaken and questioning if he might be experiencing a nightmare, hoping the situation was not as dire as implied.
Jillian, who was 37 years old, was located deceased in a forested area situated near Manchester Street. The location was described as being close to the Soucook River, the New Hampshire Liquor Outlet, and the border with Pembroke, with indications it might have been near a homeless encampment.
Jillian and Kevin married in 2018 after they first met in 2015. Their family life was based in Barnstead, where they resided with Jillian’s father. Kevin described his wife as an excellent mother who deeply cherished quality time spent with their two sons, both under ten years old.
Despite her positive role as a parent, Jillian faced personal challenges in the months preceding her death, including periods of unemployment and difficulties with substance abuse. In the weeks before her passing, she spent increased time in proximity to homeless encampments. Kevin remembered seeing his wife just inside their home the Monday before the police reported her discovery. He recalled her fondly as the devoted mother she aspired to be, noting her height of five feet two inches, blue eyes, and brown hair. Their marital bond was strong, and Jillian valued every single moment shared with their two boys, who enjoyed activities ranging from visits to the park to creative projects like crafts.
