Fatal Wichita stabbing death of Anita Avers
A 47-year-old woman faces charges of first-degree murder following the death of her 80-year-old mother. Angelynn Mock is accused of the stabbing that occurred on October 31st.
According to the Wichita Police Department, emergency dispatchers sent officers to the 1500 block of East Crowley to respond to a reported assault. Upon arrival, the officers found the victim, Anita Avers, lying in bed with numerous injuries from sharp objects. She was transported to a medical facility but did not survive the injuries.
The Wichita police identified Angelynn Mock as the suspect. Their reports indicated she was located on the street, appearing with lacerations on her hands.
Angelynn Mock is currently being held at the Sedgwick County Jail under a $1 million surety bond requirement. Her next court appearance is scheduled for November 14th for a preliminary examination.
Prior to this incident, Mock served as a weekday morning news presenter for Fox 2 News in St. Louis for a period lasting four years, from 2011 until 2015.
