Dorrie Gessler died after she was choked, reportedly by her own son. Authorities discovered her unconscious in Park City on Saturday morning.
This tragic passing was confirmed by the coroner. Park City Police were dispatched on Saturday at approximately 10 a.m. to the 300 block of Betty Street regarding a well-being check request.
According to Lake County Coroner Jennifer Banek, the initial call involved checking on a man who was reportedly causing a disturbance in the road. That man admitted to harming his mother inside their shared home.
Banek identified the deceased woman as Dorrie Gessler, who was 66 years old and lived in Park City. Park City officers entered the residence located at the 300 block of Betty Street and found Gessler without responsiveness.
The Gurnee Fire Department arrived at the scene and provided emergency medical treatment to Gessler.
