Officials from the Lake County Coroner’s Office officially confirmed an individual was killed in a serious traffic event on Monday afternoon in Zion, Illinois.
The collision took place approximately at 6 p.m. at the junction of 33rd Street and Sheridan Road.
Emergency services were dispatched to the scene and found the individual without any signs of responsiveness. Hospital staff transported the deceased to a medical center, where medical personnel later confirmed the lack of life.
The coroner’s office determined that the deceased was 59-year-old Darren Lucas, who resided in Beach Park. Examination results suggested mortality was linked to bodily trauma from the incident.
Further scrutiny is being conducted by the Zion Police Department and a specialized group examining major accidents.
