Fatal Hartford fire death of Aida Shaikh

Hartford authorities officially confirmed the identity of the 58-year-old woman who tragically lost her life in the devastating blaze that consumed a multi-family residence on Elliott Street earlier this month. The fire department pinpointed her as the sole fatality.

Chief Mario Oquendo Jr. from the Hartford Fire Department confirmed Aida Shaikh’s identity and stated she perished in the fire which occurred on October 27th. An ongoing investigation is being conducted by a collaborative team from the Fire Marshal’s Office, the Hartford Police Department, and the State Fire Investigation Unit to determine the origin of the fire.

The incident took place within a two-and-a-half-story multi-family dwelling located on Elliott Street, situated in Hartford’s southern region. According to Chief Oquendo, the fire began shortly after 10:30 p.m., a late evening hour. Upon arrival, firefighters encountered intense flames engulfing the first floor, with the fire having already spread significantly to the second floor and compromised the roof structure. This prompted the emergency call for additional personnel and resources.
