The Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office has initiated an investigation following a shooting incident reported at a Halloween gathering near Modesto. According to official statements, law enforcement units were dispatched at approximately 12:27 a.m. on November 1 after receiving notifications regarding gunfire in the Empire community, situated east of Modesto.
Upon arrival at the scene, deputies encountered two adult males who were injured by gunfire. Emergency medical procedures were immediately commenced by the responding officers. Both injured individuals were subsequently transported to a regional medical facility; tragically, one of the patients, Juan Loaiza, who is 32 years old and resides in Ceres, succumbed to his injuries later that day. The condition of the second male was reported as critical as of Tuesday evening.
A third individual, who sustained injuries from the shooting, arrived at a different hospital on their own accord and is projected to recover completely. Authorities have gathered accounts from witnesses who indicated that the shooting prompted a quick evacuation of the party attendees. Despite the investigation, no suspects have been identified or apprehended by the sheriff’s office.
