Police reports indicate that the teenager was shot in the head near 8:45 p.m. on Saturday at the front of an apartment complex on Eastern Parkway in the Crown Heights neighborhood. Authorities are investigating the incident but have stated there is no indication of a motive and the victim has no prior criminal history.
The mother of the deceased, who requested anonymity, described her son as an exceptional young man deeply involved in sports and enrolled in a prestigious school that aligned with his aspirations. She expressed profound grief, emphasizing her commitment to moving forward despite the immense loss she has suffered.
This young man, known to his family as “TJ,” had traveled from his home in the Bronx to visit friends in Brooklyn when the incident occurred. According to the grieving mother, she was communicating with him shortly before the fatal event. A witness at the apartment building reported hearing several shots being fired.
Racing from the Bronx to be with her son, the mother conveyed her overwhelming sorrow and the feeling of isolation she perceived from her son while waiting for help to arrive. She shared her poignant wish for her son to know about her presence.
