A pedestrian in his 80s was pronounced dead at the scene after sustaining injuries from a collision on Milwaukee Avenue, according to Lincolnshire police.
Officials reported the incident occurred near Knightsbridge Parkway around 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The 81-year-old victim was attempting to cross the street when a Dodge Durango contacted him, police stated.
The Dodge Durango’s operator, a 58-year-old resident of Prospect Heights, was traveling southbound at the time of the accident. Authorities noted that the driver is assisting with the investigation.
A statement from law enforcement indicated that initial assessments did not suggest impairment was involved in the incident; however, the driver agreed to undergo chemical tests, with the outcomes still pending.
Mr. Vaziri, identified by the Lake County Coroner’s Office as a Lincolnshire resident, succumbed to his injuries at the location of the crash.
