Law enforcement has secured an arrest concerning the death of a man from Opp. According to troopers from the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, the deceased person was identified as Travis Clayton, who was 44 years old. Although comprehensive details regarding Clayton’s death are still scarce, it is known he was discovered deceased on Thursday, October 30, in the 1000 block of Quail Tower Road, located in Luverne. Following an investigation, the suspect, identified as DeAndre Phiffer, is 39 years old and hails from Rutledge. He was arrested and currently faces charges including one count of manslaughter. Phiffer was taken to the Crenshaw County Jail where he is being processed. The investigation is still in progress. WDHN has contacted ALEA seeking additional information.
