Fatal Jefferson Township car crash death of Tiyana Thornton
A young woman, Tiyana Thornton, has tragically lost her life following a collision on Monday afternoon in Jefferson Township. Two other individuals were also involved in the incident, sustaining injuries.
Further details revealed that Thornton, who was 22 years old, was identified by the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office.
News Center 7 had initially reported that emergency crews responded to a location near Derby Road and South Union Road around 3 p.m. Following reports of a two-vehicle accident involving injuries, emergency personnel were dispatched to the scene.
According to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, the vehicles collided head-on. One vehicle was reported to have been heading eastbound while the other was heading westbound, striking each other near the center of the road.
Tiyana Thornton was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the other vehicle was transported to Miami Valley Hospital with what authorities described as minor injuries. Their passenger was taken to Dayton Children’s Hospital for treatment, also with minor injuries.
The affected roadway was closed for several hours to allow for the ongoing investigation by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.
