Jeffrey M. Wright and Anita Lam-Wright Die in Fatal Nyack Shooting
The tragic deaths of Jeffrey M. Wright and Anita Lam-Wright occurred inside their home at 290 North Midland Ave in Nyack. Police reports indicate this was a murder-suicide, confirmed by the nature of the injuries and evidence found at the scene.
Law enforcement officials responding to the incident discovered the bodies of the couple. According to the investigation, Mr. Wright shot his wife, Anita Lam-Wright, inside the residence. Following this act, he proceeded to another part of the home and took his own life using the same shotgun.
The Orange Township Police Department stated there were no prior domestic disturbance reports linked to this specific address.

A community meeting was held at Nyack High School on Sunday evening in response to the deaths. Attendees included classmates, friends, and family members, notably the couple’s teenage son.
Elizabeth Santiago, the CEO of the Center for Safety based in New City, commented on the support network for the surviving family members. She emphasized the strong community backing provided to the son, stating, “He felt very supported. This community, his school, his friends, their parents were very supportive of him and have offered everything that one would want a young surviving victim to receive.”
Nyack Public Schools addressed the tragic event, releasing a statement to the families. The district confirmed the deaths and announced the availability of support services, prioritizing assistance for students and families affected by the situation.
The high school facilitated a comfort gathering in the Global Learning Commons, open from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday. School clinicians and counselors were present and remain available for ongoing support.
