Fatal York City shooting death of Jyteek Christie, 23 years old
The death of 23-year-old Jyteek Christie is being investigated as a homicide by the York City Police. Accusations state that Christie was shot by Jordan Frey, also 20 years old. On Wednesday, charges were filed against Jordan Frey, including homicide and illegal firearm possession. York City authorities identified him as the person responsible for Christie’s death.
York City law enforcement and emergency responders arrived at the scene following reports of a shooting. They located Christie injured on a sidewalk in the 200 block of West Jackson Street shortly after 2:30 a.m. on Saturday.
Christie was transported to WellSpan York Hospital for medical treatment. However, police confirmed that the fatal injury, which was to his abdominal area, ultimately led to his death at the hospital.
After receiving information, police forces, including the York County Quick Response Team and U.S. marshals, executed a search warrant at the residence of Jordan Frey in the 700 block of Linden Avenue. This operation resulted in his arrest.
The case against Frey, as detailed in official charging documents, was built using several types of evidence. Investigators used statements from witnesses, information gathered through tips, and footage from security cameras and mobile phones to support the charges.
According to the police report, surveillance and witness accounts indicate that Christie became involved in a physical altercation with someone else on West Jackson Street near Manor Street. This confrontation occurred while a group of individuals was present.
Security camera footage and witness testimonies showed a man wearing a hooded sweatshirt approaching the scene. Video evidence captured this man moving through the crowd near West Jackson and Manor streets and then approaching Christie.
Investigators further described seeing this man extend his arm close to Christie’s stomach area. Following this action, Christie fell to the ground, and the group that had been watching quickly dispersed.
