Fatal Milton plane crash death of Frederick Barber
A private plane crashed near a home on Wyndham Way in Milton on Wednesday, leaving one person dead and another injured. The aircraft, a 1964 Mooney M20E, crashed shortly after 10:24 AM. The fatal accident occurred near Saratoga County Airport, authorities confirmed.
The pilot of the small plane was 58-year-old Frederick Barber from Port Charlotte, Florida. He had earned his private pilot’s license in 2019 and was certified for single-engine flight. The crash resulted in Barber’s death. His passenger was 39-year-old Alexander Hoff from Hollis, New Hampshire. Hoff was seriously injured and was taken to Albany Medical Center.
Emergency responders arrived quickly. Firefighters and police from multiple agencies responded to the scene. The house where the plane crashed was not damaged by fire, and its occupants were safe. The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the accident to determine the cause.
Investigators are examining the condition of the aircraft, which was sold to its current owner only a month before the incident. Flight records show the plane was in the area for several weeks. A similar flight path was flown just 10 days prior to the crash.
