A homicide investigation in West Memphis has led to an arrest following the shooting death of Kevon Malone last month, according to local authorities.

Police responded on the evening of November 9 to a report of a man appearing to be asleep in a driveway on McAuley Circle. When officers arrived at the location, they realized the man had been shot and was suffering from gunshot wounds.

Malone was transported to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment, but he later died from his injuries.

Following weeks of investigation, detectives identified 29-year-old Gary Chester as the suspected gunman. Police said Chester was taken into custody on December 27 at a Walmart location and has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with Malone’s death. The case remains under review as legal proceedings move forward.
