Andres Arizmendi, 43, was killed during an officer-involved shooting in Harlingen, Texas, following a police chase on Friday afternoon. Arizmendi had been wanted on multiple felony charges, including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon related to an incident on Dec. 25.

Authorities reported that Arizmendi was spotted in Combes, Texas, prompting a pursuit that ended at the intersection of Harrison Avenue and Business 77 in Harlingen. After stopping, he reportedly exited his vehicle and fired at officers and deputies. Law enforcement returned fire, striking Arizmendi multiple times. He was pronounced dead at the scene by a justice of the peace.

No officers or bystanders were injured in the incident. Police stated there is no ongoing threat to the public. The Texas Rangers are conducting an investigation, and officials asked residents to avoid the area while traffic was rerouted.
